Run Crayons through your Hot Glue Gun- a DIY.

After seeing alot of art like this on pinterest, I finally decided to do it myself and share a little DIY with you!
Note-- This will ruin your glue gun. I've had mine forever, so I needed a new one anyhow and they are only like $3.00 at wally-world. ;)
Supplies: Old glue gun, crayons, canvas.
(You will also need a scrap piece of cardboard or newspaper to put down. This can be messy.)

1. Remove all the papers from your crayons.
2. Stick into your glue gun like you would a glue stick. It's a little tight, but they fit. ;)
3. Cover your entire canvas by squeezing the crayons out of the glue gun.
Have you tried any melted crayon art?

  1. I like the one where you glue your crayons to the top of the board and then heat them so that they melt down the board - it was on http://megduerksen.typepad.com but I can't find it now

  3. I've seen these a lot too, floating around the web. I love your colors and this is also a great way to use up old crayons.

  5. What a fun project! And it's so awesome to get messy every once in a while. I almost always work with fabric. This would be a great fun project when I need a break from sewing. :-)

  7. Two questions Katie: what size canvas did you use & how long did it take you to finish?

    1. Hi! I just grabbed a canvas I had in my craft studio- I think it was about 15"x10" but I'm not sure. Any size canvas will work wonderfully though.
It took me a little over an hour to finish, from peeling off all of the crayon papers to squirting it on.

  8. Do you know if the glue gun you used was high or low heat? I'm wondering if high will melt the crayons too fast or if low would melt them at all or if it really matters. Thanks :)

    1. I did, since my glue gun doesn't have multiple temps.

  10. Will using crayons ruin the glue gun to wear you can't use glue in it anymore? Like how would you clean it after use? And how do you change colors?

    1. Oh no!! That didn't happen to me. Are you using a lowtemp or regular hot glue gun? If you're using a regular glue gun, it might get too hot. My glue gun is lowtemp. (because I'm always burning myself with it! oops.)
