Project #2 Mixed Media Shadow Box

*note* I will post the artful inspiration later this afternoon.<br/><br/>Here is a little tutorial we came up with for you guys.. A Mini Shadow Box. Enjoy!!<a href="#"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5500033913662449170" src="../_XAEtJEBWiF4/TFQLtDxzphI/AAAAAAAABYA/yzKbH_V9Jb0/s400/Lomo-(Light-Vignette).jpg" style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 360px; CURSOR: hand"/></a><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Supplies: a Tin, Fabric, Paper, Felt, Pop Dots, Misc Embellishments<br/><br/>1. Cut a piece of fabric about 2" wider than your tin on each side.<br/><a href="#"></a><br/>Taking one side, fold the edge in, and then up to the top of the tin. glue.<br/><br/><br/><a href="#"></a><br/>Do this with the opposite side.<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>with your next side, Do the same thing,<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>And then glue the corners down.<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>Repeat with the last remaining side. You should now have a tin covered in pretty fabric. :)<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>2. Time to start cutting out you shapes. You want to glue in the very back layer first.</div><br/><div>For me, it was the hills in the distance.</div><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>Glue the next layer down. (tree stumps.) You will want to start using some pop dots to give it dimension.<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>Next I added in the tops of the trees, popping some further out with pop dots. and a felt deer.<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>Add in any other embellishments you want, I found some miniature plastic trees, so I glued them to the tin.</div><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>And Lastly, Glue a pretty ribbon or fabric scrap around the edges.<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a></div><br/><div>Please send me a link to pictures if you do this, I would love to see how yours turns out. :)</div><br/><div></div><br/><div>xoxo, Taylor and Katie</div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

Sewing Machine Mat

<a href="#"></a><br/>Supplies: fabric & embellishments<br/><br/>1. Cut 2 pieces of fabric 18" x 15", this will be the fabric for the mat.<br/><a href="#"></a><br/>and a piece of contrasting fabric 17 x 10 and fold in half. this will be the fabric for the pockets.<br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>2. Add any embellishments you want to your contrasting piece of fabric, I kept it simple and just sewed on a scout badge.<br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>3. Sew you contrasting piece of fabric to one of the first pieces of fabric, about 1 inch above the bottom. <strong>Be sure to leave the top unsewed</strong>.<br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>4. Stitch straight lines about 3 inches apart on you contrasting fabric for pockets.<a href="#"></a><br/><div><div>5. Cut a 18" x 15" piece of batting and layer it between your 2 front and back pieces of fabric.<br/><br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>6. Quilt your mat. I chose to do free motion quilting, but Just regular straight stitching would work just as well!<br/><div><a href="#"></a><br/>and to give it a finished look, I sewed a strip of plain fabric around the edges, flipping it over and also sewing it on the other side for binding. <div><a href="../_XAEtJEBWiF4/TFNOd4el08I/AAAAAAAABTg/TRUzj2Jmb7c/s1600/011.JPG"></a><br/><a href="../_XAEtJEBWiF4/TFNOdg8KJuI/AAAAAAAABTY/sAp0BfW2dqo/s1600/012.JPG"></a></div><div><strong><em>*extra*</em></strong> a matching pincushion. :)</div><div> </div><div>1.
