DIY Candy Corn Tins

DIY Crocheted School Supply Tin

Have you ever wished that you had a fuzzy little tin to hold your pencils and school supplies?  Well, I did! So I whipped up this cute guy from an empty Pirouline Cookie tin!</div>

<li>Empty Pirouline Tin</li>
<li>Hot Glue</li>
<li>Yarn</li>
<li>Crochet Hook</li>
<li>Felt</li>
</ul>

1.  Cut a 1"x2" strip of felt. Adhere the top of the felt rectangle to the lid, and the rest to the bottom of the tin. This way you can remove the lid on and off, however it stays attached to the base of the tin.<br/>

2. You will want to crochet one long chain using your yarn. If you don't already know how to crochet, the chain stitch is the easiest stitch to do, you can even do it with your fingers if you don't have a crochet hook.<br/>

3. Place a dot of hot glue onto the center of the lid and adhere the end of your crochet chain to it. Spiral the chain outwards, adhering it to the lid as you go until you've completely covered the lid.</div>

4. Once you get to the bottom of the lid, simply shift the crochet chain down and continue spiraling the yarn down the body of the tin, adhering it to the tin so it stays put.<br/>

5. Once your tin is completely covered, tie off and adhere the end of the crochet chain down.<br/>

6. If you want to add a face to your tin, cut 2 eyes and a smile out from felt and adhere on!<br/>

It's a new month which means it is time for another fun Pirouline Cookie craft! I recently got some Glow in the Dark acrylic paint by DecoArt and knew it would be perfect to combine with a Pirouline tin! This planter project looks like just a normal flower pot during the day, but once night hits, it really comes to life!</div>

1. Start by painting your tin a solid color! I used a light blue spray paint to cover my tin.</div>

The glow in the dark paint doesn't dry completely clear, it's more of a transparent white, so I wouldn't recommend a darker color or your glow in the dark pattern might show during the day.</div>

2. Next, paint a pattern onto your tin using the glow in the dark paint!<br/>

I was unable to get a good picture of this, as the paint is pretty transparent. I used a small paintbrush to paint scalloped circles onto my tin.<br/>

3. So that your planter has proper drainage, you will want to use a small awl to poke a few holes into the bottom of the tin.<br/>

4. Plant your tin! I planted a dianthus flower and a bit of sedum into my tin, and I love how the sedum overflows.</div>

DIY Flamingo Windsock

Today I am sharing a super fun project to do with kids- a windsock! I've always thought windsocks were really neat, and so I created this one using an empty Pirouline Cookie tin, some felt, and some ribbon to look like a flamingo!</div>

1. Start by covering the outside of the tin with light pink felt.</div>

2. Use an awl to punch 2 holes into the bottom of the tin (now it will be the top to hang it with).<br/>

3. Cut a 2' piece of the 1/4" silk ribbon. Thread the 2 ends through the holes and tie a knot on the inside of the tin, this will be the windsock hanger.<br/>

4. Use the template (found in the supply list) to cut a flamingo head out of cardboard or chipboard.<br/>
5. Use hot glue to adhere it to felt and cut it out, leaving about a 1/4" of extra felt all the way around.<br/>
6. Cover the opposite side of the chipboard head with felt as well.<br/>

7. Apply adhesive to the beak area, and cover it in gray and white felt. Trim away any extra felt.<br/>

Hold it in place for about 15 seconds until the hot glue is dry.</span><br/>

9. Add googley eyes.<br/>

10. Cut out feathers from both light pink and dark pink felt. Place a dot of hot glue onto the tip of each feather and adhere them onto the sides of the tin like wings.<br/>

11. Cut 2 strips of the 1.5" ribbon that are about 20" long (you can go longer or shorter if you want). Adhere them inside the bottom of the tin, on opposite sides. These are the legs.<br/>

Father's day is sneaking up fast, but not to worry, I have a fun craft project for you to make! One of my favorite I do with my dad is fishing. He always took me fishing growing up, so that is what inspired todays Pirouline project!</div>

1. Apply adhesive to the outside of your tin, and cover your tin in a dark green paper. (or other color! There's no rule that says your fish has to be green.)<br/>

2. Print out the template (found in the supply list above) and cut out the pieces you'll need to make a fish. I cut all of the fins & belly pieces from a lime green paper to contrast the dark green.<br/>

In addition to the template pieces, you'll also want to cut 1/2" paper strips from lime green and light pink paper for the lips.<br/>

3. Adhere on your fish pieces. Place the belly (half circle) on one side of the tin, and your eyes will go on each side of that.<br/>

Adhere a lime green strip and a pink strip to the top of the tin for lips.<br/>

4. Adhere the two smallest fins to the sides of the fish.<br/>
On the "cut 2" fins, cut 2 of each design adhere the top and side edges together and fold the bottom strip on the dashed line.<br/>

5. Adhere them to the back of your tin, to make the fishes back.<br/>
