A new season has started over on Get Messy! This time it is the "Season of Gifts", which is pretty appropriate for the holiday season if you ask me. I'm in full Christmas mode right now.

I bought this watercolor journal from Vanessa a while back and it's been waiting for just the right moment, so I'm using it for my "gifts" journal. I haven't done the cover yet, I'm saving it until I know exactly what I want to do.

I am so love with how my first page in this journal turned out. I created the background completely with watercolors, and cut the bird out of a national geographic magazine.

The journal has flaps, so this one opens up to reveal my journaling on black gesso.

My second page is about my natural gifts, or talents.

This is actually "take 2" for this page. I started it with a yellow/green watercolor background, and the girl doodle on the right and I was just hating the colors. So I adhereds gelli prints over top and I love it so much more now.

I love the narrow format of this journal, it's so different, although a slight challenge to photograph.

What have you been working on lately?

This post was supposed to go up on Thursday, but we lost electricity due to snow and wind. eek!
