Creating Art/Scrapbooking While Traveling

I have always loved the idea of scrapbooking while traveling, or having a travel journal that you add photos and ephemera to. But for me, it's just that. An idea. a dream.

When I left on our Summer trip I packed a bag with a handmade kit of scrapbooking supplies, marker, watercolors, a sketchbook, a mini album, an instax camera, etc. I planned on taking photos with the instant camera and scrapbooking in the mini album.

It didn't happen. I didn't make even one scrapbook page in my mini album in the 4 months that we road tripped. Oops.

I took photos with my Instax instant camera, but that's as far as I got with the scrapbooking.

I couldn't get started because I felt like as soon as I got out little bits of paper, I would have my page halfway done and the opportunity to go see something or explore would come up and I would have to put away my scrapbook unfinished. I hate getting interrupted so I don't start at all

So that's the story of how I cannot scrapbook on the go no matter how much I like the idea.

I can however draw/doodle while traveling.

When my only supplies are a marker and paper or watercolors and paper, I can put that down and come back to it later so easily that I don't mind the risk of getting interrupted.

Not to mention the fact that I doodle on basically any paper I come across. Sketchbooks, Hotel notepads, paper cups.. nothing is safe if I have a marker.

Maybe one day I'll successfully scrapbook while traveling, but I'm happy with drawing on the go.

What about you? Do you scrapbook, travel journal or draw when you're traveling?
