Cardboard Drink Carrier to Pen Organizer
I have this obsession with writing utensils. You know the feeling when you get a brand new marker or pen and you just scribble your name out on notebook paper? Yeah, that one? I love it.
Let's just say I have a few markers/pens/pencils hanging around my desk and I'm always on the look out for more. When you have that many markers though, you need a way to organize them. I'd already restyled a flat rate box for all of my Sharpies and Bics, which you can see here, but I had a few things that needed a better home.
I was a bit inspired by Kam's DIY Supply Holder, only I restyled my cardboard drink carrier a bit differently.
I decided to turn this into a scrap-busting project and use up some of my many patterned paper scraps. So, I cut a bunch of scraps (made a small dent in my stash) into 1-2" strips and mod-podged them onto the box.
I've got this cube shelf right next to where I work, where I have all my little organizers. It's so handy to have everything within reach! Also, in case you're curious the box on the top left shelf was a USPS flat rate box, the top right shelf is the beer carrier I restyled today and the box on the bottom left shelf was a shoe box that I altered and covered in Gelli prints.
What are you favorite pens and markers? Here's some of mine:
- Sharpies (of course!)
- Bic Mark-its
- PITT Pens
- Stampers Big Brush Pens
- Watercolor Pencils and Aquarelles
- White Gelly Roll
- Prisma Markers
- Distress Pen
- Posca Markers
- #2 Pencil
Like I said at the beginning of this post... I have this thing for writing supplies. ;)
